Since 2012, the National Center for Frontier Communities (NCFC) has convened an annual meeting of frontier innovators, practitioners and advocates. This year (2016) it was decided to discuss one frontier health issue in-depth, rather than considering multiple issues more generally. Behavioral health emerged as a common topic after surveying several State Offices of Rural Health during the planning stage. Hence, the 2016 meeting focused on the innovations, challenges and solutions to creating a strong and vibrant frontier behavioral health system.
