Behavioral Health Aides – A Promising Practice for Frontier Communities

This report describes a developing class of allied behavioral health workers – Behavioral Health Aides (BHAs). The report concludes that models that include BHAs have good potential for improving behavioral health care in rural and frontier areas. However, because the use of BHAs is a fairly new development, there is some uncertainty about how to appropriately implement these models in frontier communities.
